13 are still missing and a fishing vessel has sank following a collision at sea early Monday morning of Japan’s northeastern coast. According to Japan’s coast guard, at around 0230 AM local time, the 119-ton tuna fishing vessel, Horiei Maru, and the Panamanian-flagged, 45,363 DWT bulk carrier, Nikkei Tiger, collided about 900 kilometers east of Sendai, Japan.
9 survivors from the Horiei Maru have been recovered however a search and rescue mission is in progress to locate the 13 who are still missing.
